Meals on the Move NC Grant for School Nutrition Programs

Carolina Hunger Initiative has a new grant opportunity for school district nutrition programs. This funding is available to help districts reach more kids with healthy meals, fill gaps created by the pandemic, and improve the quality of foods being offered. Learn more and apply here.


SNF Equipment Grant

The 2021 Equipment Grants Application(s) opens on October 1, 2020. Eligible applicants have the opportunity to win one of four grants, each worth between $20,000 to $65,000 of equipment. These grants are the Winston Equipment Grant, the Vulcan Equipment Grant, the Hobart Equipment Grant and the Collection Grant (comprised of donations made by multiple equipment companies). Applications and photos must be submitted by a school nutrition director. The recipients will be notified in late-March. This year, only finalists will be asked to submit a 2-3-minute video. Find more info here.


Action for Healthy Kids: Emergency Meal Distribution Grants for NC

Who? Districts currently feeding students at school or other sites.

What? Receive a $1000-$2,000 credit per site in your district to purchase equipment through Hubert.

Equipment could include coolers, insulated bags, carts, packaging and even personal protection equipment to be used now and into the fall.

When? ASAP! Grant applications are currently live and will be awarded weekly until all funds are awarded. No need to wait for a check; within a week of application, you’ll receive award notification and be able to place your order.

Priority: ALL NC districts serving emergency meals are eligible for grants. Priority for districts with ALDI stores located within or nearby.

To encourage Health Equity, Cigna Foundation is currently seeking proposals from non-profit organizations engaged in eliminating Health Disparities and improving Community Health Navigation. These grants support projects that help individuals understand the particular Health Equity challenges affecting them, and assist them in finding services in their communities that address those challenges. Learn more here.


The Dairy Alliance Mini-Grants

The Dairy Alliance has grant funding for NC schools for any new program that will increase access to federally-funded meals, including school breakfast and At-Risk Afterschool meals.

The program was founded by the Chef Ann Foundation, National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance, United Fresh Start Foundation, and Whole Foods Market in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move!
